REEport: Hatch Regular
The purpose of Hatch Regular funding is to conduct agricultural research programs at State Agricultural Experiment Stations and in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. insular areas.
The project initiation checklist below includes links to all required forms for new Hatch Regular projects.

LINKS | DESCRIPTION |
RCR Training Requirements | USDA/NIFA requires that all REEport Project Directors receive training in Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR). We encourage you to complete this training as soon as possible because Hatch Regular funds cannot be spent until this training is complete. |
Project Proposal | A proposal following these guidelines must be submitted for initiation of new or continued Hatch Regular projects. |
New Project Initiation | Project initiations can be submitted any time throughout the year. NIFA requires a 30-day review period before a project can become active. The project start date will be the start date requested or the date of NIFA approval, whichever is later. Start dates cannot be backdated. |
IRB Approval | Required if human subjects are involved in the project. If you submit without IRB approval, NIFA will defer the project initiation until IRB approval is confirmed. |
IACUC Approval | Required if vertebrate animals are involved in the project. |
Reporting Requirements | |

LINKS | DESCRIPTION |
Annual Progress Report | Progress reports for the period ending September 30 must be submitted annually by March 1, though it may be submitted up to 90 days before this date. If multiple annual reports are overdue, the REEport system only displays one annual report template at a time. You will need to submit a report for each period until you become current. |
Final Report | Final reports must be submitted by March 1 of the fiscal year following the project's end date, but may be submitted at any time to terminate the project. |
