UF/IFAS Office of the Dean for Research

Our office greatly appreciates your continued vigilance to help ensure that we keep our faculty and staff safe during the COVID-19 pandemic while continuing to make significant strides in research, Extension, and teaching.
Given the COVID-19 situation, we are using two portals to manage activity requests and travel. Below are selection guidelines that we hope will reduce faculty burden and streamline the use of these portals (linked below).
Portal Selection Guidelines:
Research Activity Requests Portal
Use this portal to initiate or update requests that broadly describe activities, and can include planned travel. At this stage of the UF Research Resumption Plan (Stage 3), activities will not need to be described in great detail (e.g., times, locations). It is fine to provide broad descriptions (e.g., data collection at 3 -5 area farms approximately once per week in November and December).
Essential Travel/Meeting Requests Portal
This portal is meant for trips or meetings only (e.g., travel to a workshop, to pick up a purchased piece of equipment, or to hold a meeting with stakeholders or colleagues), unconnected to an approved Research Activity Request. Multiple trips can be described within a single request by listing the associated locations and dates. If any portion of the travel or meeting is overnight, please select “yes”.
Portals are for faculty and staff use ONLY
To manage safety concerns, it is imperative that employee supervisors and student advisors are aware of planned travel. To help ensure that, we will not approve requests that originate from students. Requests should instead originate from faculty.
