Overview

The Dean for Research Office is pleased to request proposals on behalf of the Florida Tomato Committee. The proposals must address research problems and questions important to the Florida tomato industry. The funding is awarded for one-year projects that will begin September 2020. The preferred research topics are:

1. Tomato variety improvement

2. Disease and insect management

3. Soil fumigant management systems

4. Food safety/risk mitigation practices

Upon submission, the lead PI should receive an immediate email confirmation.

Submission Process

The submission site will close onThursday, September 2, 2021 at 5:00pm. To apply for this award, please go to the following site https://researchtools.ifas.ufl.edu/apps/tomato/ and complete the on-line form. The information requested includes:

Page 1: Cover sheet (Proposal title, PI name, unit, phone number, email and Co-PI information as appropriate).

Page 2: Project information (Total funding requested; Research priority area; and Project narrative). The narrative should be a Word document (typically 3-5 pages) containing the following:  Project description and justification, objectives and methods, benefits to Florida tomato industry, detailed budget including personnel, fringe, other expenses and indirect costs at 12%, and budget narrative.
