This call is for: Unit Leaders
Submission deadline: February 8th, 2024
Overview
We are again working to celebrate and recognize some of the recent high impact publications that were led by UF/IFAS faculty. We define “impact” in its broadest sense, including impacts on:
-
- Science by extending the frontiers of fundamental scientific understanding;
- Agricultural production by improving agricultural practices, varieties, and technologies;
- Human welfare by improving human health and wellbeing;
- The environment by developing sustainable practices and conservation measures;
- Communities and the economy by generating new products, technologies, businesses, and jobs; and much more!
Each unit is invited to identify one or two peer-reviewed research journal articles resulting from research led by UF/IFAS faculty that have important impacts. Nominated publications must:
-
- Be published in final form in either 2022 or 2023 (not in press);
- Indicate UF affiliation for at least one co-author who is currently assigned to your unit; and
- Be a new submission for this recognition (not submitted in a previous year).
The publications will be recognized at the 2024 UF/IFAS Research Awards Ceremony, on the UF/IFAS Dean for Research web page, and at other appropriate venues. In addition, several of these publications will be selected for special recognition along with their authors who are current UF/IFAS faculty.
The internal process that your unit uses to determine which publications to submit is up to you. We encourage you to take advantage of the lists of peer-reviewed publications generated by your unit for 2022 and that which you are working on for 2023.
For each of your submitted publications, please input the following nomination information by 5:00pm on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at https://forms.office.com/r/61cBNK26cQ.
- Unit name
- Full citation (please note the suggested citation style on the submission site)
- List of authors currently affiliated with UF/IFAS, including unit affiliation/tenure home and rank
- Impact statement: A general audience description (500 words or less) of the publication’s impact. Quantifiable and/or measurable impacts are encouraged, for example including citation counts, indications of media coverage, and recognitions by professional societies.
- Statement on the role of UF/IFAS researchers’ contributions to the paper (e.g., senior author) or the underlying research (e.g., PI on grant or advisor to student co-author)
- PDF of the publication
Please reach out to Dr. Damian Adams (dcadams@ufl.edu) with any questions. We look forward to your submissions.
