This call is for: Faculty
Submission deadline: October 1, 2024 (CLOSED)
The Florida Agricultural Experiment Station, in partnership with the University of Florida’s Office of the Vice President for Research, is pleased to announce a request for research equipment and infrastructure proposals. Funding is being provided to enhance research efforts in UF/IFAS. Our goal is to enhance infrastructural capacity for research within UF/IFAS, to increase the impacts of our research efforts, and to increase our competitiveness for extramural funding. Proposals for one-time expenditures of non-recurring funds are requested, including one-time costs associated with equipment installation, such as room modifications, power requirements, etc., based on prior discussions with UF/IFAS Facilities & Operations. Though we recognize their importance, proposals to support personnel or recurring infrastructure expenses (e.g., long-term equipment leases, maintenance contracts) are not eligible for these funds.
Written quotes for equipment or infrastructure will be required before funds are released to PIs. PIs are expected to have all funds encumbered by the end of the Fiscal Year (June) 2025 and to certify that they have obtained a written quote for the proposed equipment or infrastructure item(s).
We are accepting one proposal per PI and expect to fund approximately 20-25 proposals. The maximum request per proposal is $75,000. Proposals will be judged on the following criteria:
- Positioning for extramural funding after the equipment / infrastructure is acquired.
- Multiple faculty utilization of the equipment / infrastructure.
- Matching funds are required. Higher matching commitments from multiple faculty and/or their units will be viewed more favorably.
- Faculty must have an active Capacity Project in the NIFA Reporting System (NRS, formerly REEport) that has been approved by NIFA prior to submission. For assistance with NRS, please contact Dana Holt (danasu@ufl.edu)
Proposals are due to the Dean for Research office on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
