Tammy Siegel is a Research Administrator III in the UF/IFAS Office of the Dean for Research.  She is a member of the Proposal Office team with a focus on proposal review, mentoring research administrators and assisting with complex proposal preparation.  Tammy’s career at UF began in 2011 at the Citrus Research and Education Center (CREC) as an administrative assistant to the Center Director.  During her second year at UF, she discovered her passion in research administration when helping to cover a vacant position at CREC.  Her detail-oriented skills, planning ability, and experience working with numbers made research administration a natural fit for her personality and strengths.   Tammy administered both the pre and post award activities for CREC.  Additionally, she oversaw pre-award for Range Cattle REC, Tropical REC, Mid-Florida REC, and Southwest Florida REC.  Tammy’s approach to work is guided by the 6 P’s, “prior planning prevents, pitifully poor performance”. This approach helped her achieve recognition as the 2018 UF/IFAS Research Service Awardee.  In 2020 she was promoted to Manager of Administrative Services at CREC.  During her tenure, she worked to connect the functions of fiscal, human resources, and grant administration roles and how they interact with sponsored program activities.  As a result of her time in that role she gained experience in unit level human resource activities.  In 2022 she accepted her current position with the UF/IFAS Office of the Dean for Research.  Tammy is a fan of the natural world and enjoys outdoor activities such as, walking on the beach and kayaking.  She lives in central Florida with her husband Rick and two dogs Schooner and Skipper.
