Membership Nominations
We encourage you to nominate candidates for membership at any time! It is important to nominate qualified graduate or undergraduate students, as well as faculty and scientific staff, new or veterans, for Sigma Xi membership. Details on who is eligible for membership to Sigma Xi are provided below.
Individuals interested in membership can fill out the form below and email it to the Chapter secretary, Damian Adams at dcadams@ufl.edu.

Sigma Xi costs
New Associate or Full Members: $135
Postdoc/transitional: $65
Student Membership: $50
New Member Initiation Fee: $20
Promotion from Associate to Full Member: $10 if dues are current.

Who is Eligible for Membership in Sigma Xi?
Each year the Society initiates more than 5,000 new members. More than 170 members have won the Nobel Prize. There are three levels of membership.
Full Membership is open to any individual who has shown noteworthy achievement as an original investigator in a field of pure science. As defined by Sigma Xi, noteworthy achievement is evidenced by a minimum of two publications, which could include refereed first-author journal articles, patents, written reports, books, or a thesis or dissertation. This may include 2 full author publications, one of which could be a dissertation or thesis.
Associate Membership is open to any individual who has through initial research achievement in a field of pure or applied science, shown aptitude for research, which is expected in due course to lead the fulfillment of the requirements for full membership.
Student Membership is open to any full-time, degree-seeking student at an institution of higher learning. Student membership has to be renewed annually.
