Overview
Research Professorships sponsored by the University of Florida Research Foundation (UFRF) will be awarded in 2024. UFRF Professorships are awarded to tenured faculty members who have a distinguished current record of research. The purpose of these awards is to recognize recent contributions and to provide incentives for continued excellence in research. The primary selection criteria will include the professor’s performance in the past five years, and evidence of a strong research agenda that is likely to lead to continuing distinction in the professor’s field.
Nominations of faculty are to be made by Department Chairs and Center Directors. One faculty member from each unit (i.e., one from each tenure home department, and one from each REC) may be nominated. UF/IFAS nominations will be selected and forwarded to the Vice President for Research.
The nomination packet should be a single PDF assembled in the following order:
- A signed supporting letter from the Unit Leader documenting the candidate’s standing in the field of research,
- A one-page lay abstract that details recent accomplishments and a strong research agenda,
- The nominee’s CV,
- An optional headshot of the nominee, and
- Optional links to the nominee’s social media accounts
The eligible pool includes all full-time Associate, Full, and Distinguished Professors who are tenured at the time of the award and have been employed by the University of Florida for at least five years, as of May 1, 2024.
Unit leaders should contact selected faculty and have them prepare their packet for review and approval. Attached is additional information regarding the eligibility criteria and nomination process. All nomination material must be submitted by email to UFRFProfessorship@ifas.ufl.edu by our internal UF/IFAS deadline of Monday, March 4, 2024.
