- 2015 Joye Giglia Endowment for Innovative Agriculture Technology
This endowment was established to “support research at UF/IFAS that is focused on products and/or technology that incorporates a new approach to agricultural practices; preference shall be given to research associated with new technologies for conserving water in agriculture and horticulture production.” In its third year, this endowment is awarding $5,000 to Dr. Bob Hochmuth for his project entitled “Implementing New Technologies for Summer Hydroponic Lettuce Production inside Shaded Florida Greenhouses.” Congratulations Bob!
- 2015 Early Career Seed Fund Awards
A total of $808,147 was awarded to fund 17 projects to help new faculty jumpstart their research programs and provide a platform for their future success. This program is jointly supported by the IFAS Dean for Research office, Senior VP for Agriculture and Natural Resources and the UF VP for Research.
- 2015-16 McIntire-Stennis Cooperative Forestry Research Act Program Awards
A total of $322,078 was awarded to fund 7 new research projects during 2015-16 under the McIntire -Stennis Cooperative Forestry Research Act Program that assists investigators in conducting forestry research.
- 2015 Multistate Research Awards
A total of $191,488 was awarded to fund 20 research projects during 2015 in support of Multistate Projects that have been approved by USDA-NIFA.
- 2015 Equipment & Infrastructure Awards
A total of $938,500 was awarded to fund 28 projects to help enhance infrastructural capacity for research within IFAS with the goal of increasing the impacts of our research and to increase our competitiveness for extramural funding. This program is jointly supported by the IFAS Dean for Research office, Senior VP for Agriculture and Natural Resources and the UF VP for Research.
- 2015 Summer Research Internships for Undergraduates
A total of $208,320 was awarded to UF/IFAS faculty to support 62 UF undergraduates in completing a research project during the summer. Students earn $14 per hour for 240 hours, or a total of $3,360. This FAES program targets students that have not previously held a research appointment with the goal of introducing and recruiting students into science and UF/IFAS graduate programs in particular.
- 2014-15 Florida Tomato Committee Research Awards
A total of $246,341 was awarded to fund four projects selected by the Florida Tomato Committee. The UF/IFAS Dean for Research Office coordinated the proposal solicitation, submission and review process and the FTC selected the proposals at their meeting in September 2014.
- 2014-15 FNGLA Endowed Research Fund Awards
The Florida Nursery Growers and Landscapers Association (FNGLA) selected 8 projects to receive from $1,900 to $5,000 to supplement existing research projects that address one of five priority areas. The FNGLA Endowed Research Fund awards up to $50,000 annually in enhancement funds, which was awarded to researchers around the state.
