2019 Research Opportunity Seed Fund Awards Announced
Fifty-four proposals were submitted to the University of Florida's campus-wide 2019 Research Opportunity Seed Fund competition. Only 15 faculty members were awarded grants, three of which are UF/IFAS affiliated:
- Barry Alto, $85,320: Examining how blood meals from different vertebrate species influence the midgut microbiome of the mosquito vector Aedes aegypti, and its susceptibility to arboviral infections
- Erica Goss, $85,000: Single-cell sequencing of the citrus Huanglongbing pathogen, Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, to advance understanding of pathogen biology
- Melissa Jones, $85,000: Regulation of exosome production and content resulting from human norovirus infection of B cells
