Specialty Crop Proposal Writing Training Workshop
The IFAS Dean for Research Office will offer a proposal-writing workshop under Steve Russell (Grant Writers' Seminars & Workshops LLC). The workshop will be specifically oriented toward the USDA Specialty Crops Research Initiative (SCRI) competitive program. The workshop will be offered on November 18th, 2008, on the University of Florida campus in McCarty Hall, Room1151, from 8:00 AM to noon. We will choose workshop participants competitively, i.e., on the basis of a pre-proposal application process on the Research web site.
To be eligible to participate in the workshop:
- You must be seriously contemplating a new submission for the second year's SCRI funding-RFA possibly out in January, 2009. Faculty members with previous unfunded or funded SCRI proposals are eligible for the workshop, but previous unfunded PIs will be given priority for space, along with new PIs and their proposals.
- You must have participated in a Proposal-Writing seminar from Steve Russell. If you have not yet done that, then the next seminar is being offered by Grant Writers' Seminars & Workshops LLC on November 17th, 2008, one day prior to the SCRI workshop. Registration information for the seminar will be posted at http://www.aa.ufl.edu/. Information will be located under "Upcoming Events." The contact for questions about the seminar is Alison Hightower in the Provost's office at ahightower@aa.ufl.edu.
- You must apply for the workshop through the IFAS Dean for Research Office by October 30, 2008. Go to the Research website at http://research.ifas.ufl.edu and fill in the electronic application form. You will need to provide an abstract of your proposed project. For questions about the SCRI workshop, contact Judy Kite at jfki@ufl.edu.
- If chosen for the workshop, you must be willing to commit to an intensive 3 to 5 month effort on your proposal, under the guidance of Dr. Russell.
