From the Dean
UF/IFAS Grant Specialist Meeting
December 4th, 2015
This memo invites a grant specialist from each unit to a mandatory meeting about changes to various policies and processes relating to external funding. An online RSVP is required by November 13th and participants can attend in person or via Polycom. The online reservation system also allows for additional suggestions on meeting topics.
UF/IFAS IDC Policy
October 2, 2015
This policy re-iterates the need to eliminate IDC waivers for grower and producer groups that support projects. All externally funded projects are expected to use the federally negotiated rates to determine IDCs, however, previously exempted stakeholder groups will be subject to a 12% IDC rate beginning July 1, 2016. This is the same rate as proposed in the draft of August 4, 2015, and the rate that will allow UF/IFAS to breakeven under the RCM system.
UF/IFAS Assessment of Non-Native Plants
Revised: August 31, 2015
This memo contains links to the latest recommendations from the UF/IFAS Invasive Plant Working Group regarding programs that involve non-native plant species, including a "well-defined protocol for UF/IFAS extension and research publications to use in their description, categorization and recommended uses of non-native plants in Florida." The memo also includes contacts for any questions.
New: UF Policy regarding use of UAS
Effective: August 27, 2015
"The UF Division of Sponsored Programs (DSP) will notify the Division of Research Compliance (DRC) when a Sponsored Program effort involves a UAS. DRC will then reach out to the Principal Investigator (PI) to determine if the PI needs assistance in determining whether a COA is needed, and if it is needed, whether a COA will be issued based upon the planned UAS effort to be conducted."
UF/IFAS Administrative Research Goals
August 14, 2015
This page summarizes the goals for the Dean for Research as part of the campus-wide goal-setting process that is underway. The goals are the result of the administrative team in the research office and two independent working groups (one unit leaders and one faculty). These goals will be merged with those of teaching and extension to develop an overall set of IFAS goals.
