Request for Proposals - 2008 IFAS Research Innovation Fund

The Florida Agricultural Experiment Station is calling for proposals to seek funding from the IFAS Research Innovation Fund which provides funding for three target areas:

  1. Projects that position faculty with preliminary data to be successful with large scale national grant applications;
  2. High risk projects (lower odds of success) with potential for spectacular scientific payoff;
  3. Projects that need funding to position them for commercialization.

Each IFAS unit (Department, REC, and IFAS recognized Center) may submit one proposal to the Dean for Research Office...

Research Spotlight

The term "molecular plant pathology" covers a wide range of activities, including biochemistry, genetics, physiology, tissue culture, and taxonomy. Pathologists have developed and adapted contemporary technologies which have significantly advanced the discipline. Our faculty use molecular techniques to varying degrees in their research.

Dr. Michael D. Dukes - Dr. Dukes specializes in irrigation and drainage engineering; water quantity and quality issues; crop consumptive use/evapotranspiration; Best Management Practices to reduce nonpoint source pollution. He maintains specific research projects in Nonpoint source pollution and agriculture, Water quality as a result of agricultural practices, Irrigation systems: design, efficiency, optimization, and Hydrology as related to agricultural systems.

Upcoming Workshops

The IFAS Dean for Research Office is sponsoring a major effort in Grantsmanship Training. This multi-year effort will be designed to reach across - all - IFAS faculty (CALS, Extension, FAES) involved in grant writing and to build their skills as well as support a select subgroup in specific proposal drafting and submission.

The next Grant Writing Workshop will take place August 18th, 2008 and is intended for newly hired faculty.
