Dean's Faculty Update
Professional involvement with Cuba, Iran, Syria, Sudan and North Korea
Date: June 17th, 2008
From: Mark R. McLellan, Dean
We write to remind you that there continues to be heightened sensitivity across UF, the state of Florida, and our Federal government, about any professional involvement with Cuba, Iran, Syria, Sudan and North Korea.
This sensitivity is without regard to the source of funds or the nature of the proposed or planned activity.
As a matter of procedure, you are advised that any proposed or contemplated relationship or partnership with colleagues in the above mentioned countries must be cleared with Amy Hass in the general counsel's office and Brandi Boniface before even beginning to plan any interaction.
Sincerely,
Mark R. McLellan
Dean for Research, IFAS
And
David J. Sammons, Ph.D.
Director, International Programs, IFAS
