To facilitate grantmanship skills and to help improve success in securing extramural funding, I am pleased to announce that the IFAS Dean for Research office will once again be hosting a grantsmanship workshop this spring. The full day seminar (“Writing Winning Grants”), hosted by Grant Writers’ Seminars and Workshops, LLC., comprehensively addresses both practical and conceptual aspects that are important to the proposal-writing process. It is designed for faculty members who have had some exposure to writing grant applications, either through training / mentoring or personal experience.

Often we have heard from faculty that they would like an easy way to accomplish service functions for appropriate entities with minimal overhead and ease of execution. After discussions with DSR we have come to an agreement to enable faculty to declare themselves a service program with a single account receiving deposits and 10% indirect cost rate.

For those of you who are contemplating submitting an AFRI grant, you may want to read this and get a sense of Dr. Beachy's direction of NIFA and the AFRI grant program. There are also some predictors of what new/additional kinds of information they may be asking for when the RFA is issued.
