IFAS Summer Internships
The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) is pleased to announce the call for Research or Extension Summer Internships with the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station or the Florida Cooperative Extension Service. This internship program is a cooperative effort between the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS), the Experiment Station, and the Extension Service. Interns will be paid $560 per week ($14 per hour) and will work under the supervision of an Experiment Station faculty member or a county Extension Agent. This internship program will place a priority on students who have not previously held a research or extension position.
RESEARCH INTERNSHIPS: The Experiment Station is the research program of IFAS. Our mission is to discover, invent and develop applications of new knowledge in agriculture, human and natural resources. Experiment Station faculty are in Departments on the campus in Gainesville and at Research and Education Centers throughout Florida. The Experiment Station has over 650 active research Projects. Each Project has specific goals and objectives and is led by a faculty member. We are offering you an opportunity to work with one of our faculty for a 6-week period during the summer to learn about an Experiment Station Research Project and to contribute to your knowledge of the Project. For more information, please refer to the Research Internship Frequently Asked Questions.
EXTENSION INTERNSHIPS: Florida Cooperative Extension is the outreach component of IFAS. Its mission is to extend and encourage the application of research developed at the Experiment Station. Extension does this work through its 67 county offices. Interns will be asked to plan and teach in one of these offices under the supervision of one of our county faculty for an 8-week period.
